Include diaries, 1810-1839 (3 v.), correspondence, 1813-1839, account book, 1826-1855, and deeds for slaves, 1819-1838, of Blair Bolling (1791-1839) documenting plantation and social life in Campbell and Powhatan counties, Va., trips to the medicinal springs of western Virginia, and a trip from Richmond, Va., to visit the United States Military Academy at West Point. The account book concerns agricultural operations at "Centre Hill" plantation, Powhatan County, and contains lists of slaves. Also includes diary, 3 April-22 May 1865, correspondence, 1848- 1891, and account book, 1845-1849, of Archibald Bolling (1827-1897). The diary concerns his final days of service with General Lee's Army during the Appomattox Campaign. The correspondence concerns his service in the Confederate army and his visits abroad to England, Scotland, and France. The account book concerns the operation of a school near Guinea Church, Cumberland County, Va. Miscellaneous items include correspondence, 1850-1861, and a commonplace book, 1848-1852, of Elizabeth Trueheart (Armistead) Bolling (1828-1862) of Richmond, Va., and "Woodville" plantation, Cumberland County; commonplace book of Pauline Storrs Bolling (1839-1857) of "Clifton" plantation, Cumberland County; correspondence, 1861-1926, album, 1874- 1902, and drawings of Martha Bolling (1856-1936) of Richmond; and minute book, 1869-1870, of the Cluster Springs Literary Society, Halifax County, Va. Also includes genealogical notes on the Armistead, Blair, Bolling, Burton, Caldwell, Carlyle, Daniel, Glenn, Pleasants, Pride, Randolph, Richardson, Shepperson, Tansler and Trueheart families.
